Week 1 brief. One page holding the issue, audience, purpose, structure, evidence, and design decisions.
Open resource →A five-week, 20-resource unit that prepares students for your own assessment brief, which stays offline. It combines three reviewed sources with 17 print-ready builds. Students research one sustainability issue, design a digital infographic, and write a rationale.
Week 1 brief. One page holding the issue, audience, purpose, structure, evidence, and design decisions.
Open resource →Week 1 direct instruction. Turn a broad topic into one focused issue with causes, impacts, solutions, and stakeholders.
Open resource →Week 1 direct instruction. Title, standfirst, sections, data displays, icons, source line, and call to action.
Open resource →Week 1 game. Twelve briefs sorted into informational, statistical, radial, process, comparison, and decision-guide structures.
Open resource →Week 2 direct instruction. Build a specific audience profile, choose a precise purpose, and write a purpose statement.
Open resource →Week 2 direct instruction. Turn claims into evidence, interrogate statistics, and distinguish correlation from causation.
Open resource →Week 2 direct instruction. Apply five tests, trace recycled claims, and read laterally beyond the page.
Open resource →Week 3 direct instruction. Reading paths, grids, white space, grouping, contrast, type hierarchy, and the three-second test.
Open resource →Week 3 direct instruction. Purposeful palettes, accessible contrast, consistent icon families, and clear symbolism.
Open resource →Week 3 direct instruction. Choose honest chart forms, annotate the takeaway, and spot common distortions.
Open resource →Week 3 practice. Build a complete draft against the task requirements, accessibility checks, and three-session plan.
Open resource →Week 4 model. Annotate a schematic infographic and connect each design choice to purpose and audience.
Open resource →Week 4 model. A six-part handwritten rationale with annotations, sentence frames, and common errors.
Open resource →Week 4 practice. Use the criteria to give kind, specific, helpful feedback and choose three revision priorities.
Open resource →Week 5 checklist. Check task conditions, content, design, sources, rationale, and Compass submission.
Open resource →Week 5 game. Five stages, fifteen questions, an answer key, and a six-sentence rationale challenge.
Open resource →Teacher guidance. Pacing, differentiation, quality prompts instead of a published rubric, and submission policy.
Open resource →Audit evidence. The audit lists 2 confirmed Sustainability Infographic assets and 17 adjacent candidates. Both confirmed items are Young Change Agents Future of Travel challenges with rights_review, so they are excluded. Only three existing documents are publishable: the Future of Food worksheet pack, the KWEL Chart, and the Visual Language retrieval chart. The task sheet and rationale are school assessment material, so they are not published; this pack prepares students for the assessment instead. It therefore uses 3 reviewed sources and 17 builds rather than padding with irrelevant files.
