Audit evidence. The audit lists 2 confirmed Comic Creator assets, but both are rights-flagged Young Change Agents business challenges and are excluded. Only 3 adjacent assets are explicitly mapped to Comic Creator. This pack therefore uses 12 reviewed assets from the Graphic Novels & Comics folder, one reuse, and 12 builds. It is the most build-heavy Year 7 pack so far. Comic Creator is a making unit; Comics+ is the separate analysis unit.

Before you teach

  • There is no usable confirmed anchor. Both confirmed assets are rights-flagged Young Change Agents challenges and are excluded.
  • The 12 existing assets are reviewed, not confirmed for Year 7. Adapt language and expectations.
  • Check that you have a licensed class set of Understanding Comics before using the Chapter 4 questions. Do not reproduce the chapter.
  • Check image rights in Sample Layouts and Mod Layouts. Use them as teacher reference if necessary.
  • Do not make the Batman/Gotham worksheets the core of the unit. They narrow comics to superhero conventions.
  • Normalise US spelling and examples in the Student Workbook and organisers.
  • Students must create original characters and pages. No copyrighted characters, logos, or traced published art.
  • Check your school's AI image policy. If AI is permitted, students must disclose and cite it.
  • Set content boundaries: no graphic violence, hate imagery, or real-person caricature.
  • The unit must work with paper, pencil, and a phone camera. Digital tools are optional.
  • Do not duplicate Comics+. Comic Creator is a making unit, not a graphic-novel literature study.
